SEXUAL HEALTH TESTS

Sexual Health and wellbeing is important and has a fundamental effect on the physical health and mental health of individuals, couples and families. 

Taking care of sexual health is a crucial part of a relationship with yourself and your partner(s) while to protect your overall and long-term health. 

Many people can be embarrassed or feel shame for the sexual health problems but to maintain your sexual health, overall health and to prevent diseases it has to be consulted & get advise or get tested by specialists. 

Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) or Infectious (STIs) are very common and unfortunately some STDs or STIs show no symptoms and you can have without knowing it. In some STDs the crucial symptoms do not appear until months or even years

While some STDs show mid symptoms and may appear within four to five days or four to five weeks with painful urination, vaginal discharge, pain during sexual intercourse, testicular pain or bleeding. 

Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) or Infectious (STIs) are generally transmitted from one person to other person by sexual contact which is usually vaginal, oral, or anal sex. Some STDs (bacterial) can be also transmitted through skin to skin contact. Some of them can also be transmitted from mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding.

STDs/STIs can be can be caused by either viral or bacterial or parasites. More than 30 different bacteria, viruses and parasites are known to be transmitted through sexual contact.

Some STDs/STIs are caused by;

Parasites: Trichomoniasis, Pubic louse

Bacteria:  Gonorrhea, syphilis and chlamydia. 

Viruses: Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), genital herpes, hepatitis B and HIV.

STDs are serious illnesses that require treatment. Some STDs, such as HIV, cannot be cured and can be deadly. 

STIs like herpes, gonorrhoea and syphilis can increase the risk of HIV acquisition

STIs such as gonorrhoea and chlamydia are major causes of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and infertility in women.

HPV infection causes cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women globally,

Hepatitis B can be resulted with death  mostly from cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (primary liver cancer). 

There are conscious and effective methods of protection against STDs/STIs, also effective vaccines are available for viral STDs, some of STD/STIs can be treated by antibiotics and antiviral medications. 

Beside protection, monitoring and diagnosis with regular Sexual Health Testing is the key factor for a health and wellbeing.
