Health tourism (Medical Tourism) is a wider term of travel which focuses on different healthcare solutions for people who are seeking healthcare services in an other country or city. Health Tourism is becoming more popular over the years and one of the fastest growing forms of tourism. 

Health Tourism in not a novel concept, people have travelled abroad to find new treatments, cures or wellnesses for centuries. Ancient people were looking and traveling for cures, herbal healing or thermal baths, hot springs for their well-being.

In recent years, rapid increase in the advanced healthcare technology, highly qualified and sophisticated doctors, increasing number of modern clinics & hospitals, ease of traveling expand the destinations and healthcare solutions across the countries for health tourism. 

With high-quality healthcare and cost-effective options in other countries, people generally seeking for dental treatments, cosmetic surgery, hair-transplant, obesity or fertility (IVF) treatments while some people are searching for rare conditions, cancer or alternative therapies to find have a higher chance to be treated or cured.  

Unfortunately Covid-19 Pandemic has affected all businesses and people on global scale dramatically. Travel and tourism is among the most affected sectors due to the restrictions.

Solely, pandemic has caused difficulties and increasing challenges to the healthcare systems worldwide. On one hand fight against Covid-19 pandemic has urgency, on the other hand maintenance of essential health services was crucial. Due that in some cases continuity of the health services has also disrupted in this emergency situation. Treatments, diagnosis, some surgeries had to be postponed and this leads a long waiting times for the many patients.

Pandemic had also major impact on economy, healthcare costs increased sharply it affected healthcare expenditures of governments even the personal expenditures of all people. 

Nevertheless, the biggest effect of Pandemic was on our Health, where health is defined as physical health and mental health. Some people affected by the virus, some are not, however loss of people, fear of contamination with virus, long isolation days, loneliness and concern about economic situations effected all of us.

Ultimately we all saw the importance of healthcare one more time and we met with Covid-PCR tests for our health and safety especially for traveling. Hopefully, these hard days will end up but the importance of healthcare and safety will everlasting.
